These enameled Scandinavian pieces are just so gorgeous! The workmanship is always outstanding, and this piece is no exception. Marked "STERLING" is has a gilt gold overlay. The enameled sail is billowing in the wind, and the metal behind the white and reddish orange enameling has a great design . The body of the ship is done in silver enameling. All enameled parts are done in the Basse Taille method. Also marked on the back is "NORWAY" - "925S" and the makers mark which indicates it was made by Aksel Holmsen. The marking also indicates that this is a pre - 1970 work. In perfect condition. What a treasure!
