The main gemstone is labradorite (which is appropriately named after the beautiful Canadian Maritime province of Labrador on the North Atlantic). Labradorite is in the same feldspar family of gemstones as moonstone, and has the same elusive shimmering quality of ever-changing light. Its golden/gray/green/blue flashes are the exact shade of the ocean waves just before a storm. The scans did not pick up anywhere near all of the subtle flash of these labradorites.
The full-round faceted 7mm. briolettes, slender 10mm. faceted briolettes, and 4mm. faceted rondelles of this elusive shimmering labradorite are accented by complementing colors of rare kyanite, deep blue iolite (also known as the 'water sapphire'), rainbow moonstone with lots of bluish flash, and gem aquamarine. The kyanites, which owe their distinctive silvery flash from aluminum silicate content, are 9mm. smooth ovals; The 8mm. oval faceted aquamarines and smooth oval kyanites are worked on granulated beaded vermeil pins. The deeper blues are 7mm. faceted full round briolettes and 4.5mm. faceted rondelles of iolite. The blue moonstones are 4.5mm. faceted rondelles, as are the faceted gem aquamarines. All of the gems pick up the deep blue and aqua flashes of the labradorites.
The labradorites and moonstones have a good deal more flash in them than the scans were able to capture. I guarantee that they are far more beautiful in person.
All are worked on 14kt. gold-fill wire to 14kt. gold-fill rolo chain. They hang from secure 14kt. gold-fill European leverback wires. They measure 2" without the wires.
