When I first offered my Sea Storm line about 7 years ago, I had no idea it would be so wildly imitated! Apparently the sea inspires everyone, however indirectly.............but here are the originals.

I love the restless North Atlantic, with its huge swells, mysterious deep colors and frequent storms. Gazing at it has been a lifelong source of creative inspiration for me. These earrings are crafted in the haunting colors of the northern seas just before a storm, in iolite, labradorite, kyanite, aquamarine, apatite, green tourmaline and rainbow moonstone.

The main gemstone is labradorite (which is appropriately named after the beautiful Canadian Maritime province of Labrador on the North Atlantic). Labradorite is in the same feldspar family of gemstones as moonstone, and has the same elusive shimmering quality of ever-changing light. Its golden/gray/green/blue flashes are the exact shade of the ocean waves just before a storm. The scans did not pick up anywhere near all of the subtle flash of these labradorites.

From the bottom, the gems are: 9mm. faceted full-round labradorite; 4mm. faceted deep sea-green tourmaline rondelles; 7mm. smooth kyanite ovals; 12mm. faceted slender labradorite briolettes; 5mm. faceted iolite rondelles; 4mm. deep green-blue apatite faceted rondelles; 4mm. faceted green tourmaline rondelles; 6mm. faceted full-round aquamarine briolettes; 8mm. faceted iolite briolettes; 4mm. faceted rainbow moonstone rondelles; 5mm. smooth apatite ovals; 10mm. faceted marquise-shaped labradorite briolettes; 6mm. faceted full-round rainbow moonstone briolettes; 6mm. faceted aquamarine ovals.

All are worked on 14kt. gold-fill jewelry wires to 14kt. gold-fill rolo chain. They hang from secure 14kt. gold-fill European leverback wires. They measure 2" long, not including the wires, and &3/8" total.

The kyanites owe their distinctive silvery flash from aluminum silicate content. All of the gems pick up the deep blue, seaweed green and aqua flashes of the labradorites.

The labradorites and rainbow moonstones have a good deal more flash in them than all the scans were able to capture. I guarantee that they are far more beautiful and sparkling in person. I can craft a matching necklace to these earrings if you wish.
