One of my lifelong favorite fragrances is Guerlain's famed "L'Heure Bleue" created in the Edwardian decade of the early 20th century. The term refers to the 'Blue Hour' of dusk in Paris, when the light fades to deepening blue-violet shadows. Parisians say it is the finest hour of the day for romance......

These lovely new earrings are a modern adaptation of a pair that might have been worn by a celebrated beauty in Paris of that time. I've accented them with gemstones the color of Paris' famed Blue Hour: deep violet blue iolite (also called the 'water sapphire'), shimmering rainbow moonstone (lots of opalescent blue flash in these!), kyanite (Greek for 'blue'), freshwater cultured pearls and softest water-blue chalcedony.

The style is a dangle of 14kt. gold-filled rolo chain: from the bottom they are 10mm. faceted briolettes of water-blue chalcedony, 5mm. faceted briolettes of rainbow moonstone, 4mm. rice-shaped cultured freshwater pearls, 4.5mm. faceted iolite rondelles; 4mm. faceted water-blue chalcedony rounds, and 7mm. faceted iolite briolettes. The kyanites are 7mm. smooth ovals, and 3.5mm. faceted double rondelles. All are worked on 14kt. gold jewelry wires, and accented with 2mm. gold-filled beads.

They hang from secure European 14kt. gold-fill leverback wires. They measure 2.25" total, 2" not including the wires, and are very light in the ears.

This is a particularly flattering style of earrings, swaying seductively and giving a slimming appearance to the face. The faceting of these iolites and rainbow moonstones make them very sparkling in candlelight or dim lighting. I have a matching necklace to these earrings in my store.
