I love this curved chandelier style of earring, which goes far back into history. They were worn by women since ancient times, and were especially popular during the Medieval period. I've crafted these modern reproductions turquoise, a gemstone that Medieval knights often brought back to their ladies as filigree jewelry from the East. In gemstone folklore, turquoise was associated with good fortune, courage and wealth.

The curved chandeliers are 22kt. sterling vermeil, with a total of 16 faceted 4mm. beads of fine Chinese turquoise. The center briolettes are 10mm. smooth briolettes of fine Chinese turquoise. These are the traditional blue-green of Chinese and Central Asian turquoise, and may be stabilized, as is almost all turquoise on the market today. All are accented with 2mm. gold-fill beads and vermeil accents.

They hang from 22kt. sterling vermeil French wires with a teardrop on the front. They measure 2.75" total, and 1.75" without the wires, for women who love this look but prefer their earrings a bit shorter. Because of its gold overlay, sterling vermeil wires can be worn comfortably by women who normally can tolerate only gold.

These are lightweight earrings, despite their impressive appearance. They look look absolutely spectacular with any outfit, and add a splash of color to basic black. Feel like a heroine out of Medieval legend in them, my Lady.

These would retail in a good historical or Museum jewelry catalog for about $150 -- but they would not handcrafted artisan earrings like these.

During the Middle Ages, gold was so expensive that it was reserved for royalty and the Church, and most Medieval noblewomen and wealthy ladies wore sterling vermeil. Vermeil was known as 'silver-gilt' to Medieval jewelers. Using it in my Medieval reproductions makes them even more authentic.

The curved connectors and French wires are sterling vermeil; all other metals (jewelry wires and beads) are 14kt. gold-filled. All turquoise beads are genuine.
