The Medievals were passionately fond of vivid colors: russets, saffrons, blues, greens, all made a Medieval gathering glow with rich color. But scarlet red was far and away the most favored. In Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the immortal Wife of Bath--the incomparable Dame Alisoun herself-- proudly wears her scarlet red skirts and stockings.

These silver filigree earrings, with their vivid scarlet red crystals, would have been popular during Chaucer's time, perhaps even worn by Dame Alisoun. Knights returning from the Crusades brought back all manner of luxuries from the East, including intricate silver filigree jewelry for their ladies.

The earrings feature sterling filigree heart pendants. I've accented them with scarlet cubic zirconia long faceted briolettes and 4mm. faceted scarlet Austrian crystals. The earrings hang from extra-long French wires, and include rubber stoppers for security. They measure 1 & 5/8" without the wires.

This is Austrian crystal, the finest crystal in the world, unsurpassed for its clarity and sparkle. The slender faceted 20mm. briolettes are scarlet red cubic zirconia, a lab-created cultured crystal that is famous for its glitter and sparkle. These briolettes look like they are lit from within with a deep red flame.

These look splendid--and very Medieval--with Renaissance or Celtic Faire costumes, but also make a simple longish dress look very special indeed. For you, my Lady.......
