I've crafted these linear earrings to match my Isolde Connemara Marble Medieval Necklace, also on Ruby Lane, though they are very lovely on their own. Isolde might have brought earrings like this with her from Tara, as only an Irish princess would have worn this marble. Rare and lovely Connemara marble is found only in the west of Ireland, and is also known as the Irish national gemstone. It is becoming increasingly hard to find. These soft misty green beads are hand-drilled, and the color always reminds me of the green moss over weathered stone that I saw on ancient structures throughout the British Isles.
The earrings feature Celtic pendants of sterling 24kt. vermeil, with slender cylindrical bead of Connemara marble, worked on vermeil jewelry pins with a granulated beaded pattern. The earrings hang from 24kt. vermeil French wires and include rubber stoppers for security. They measure 1 & 5/8" without the wires and are very lightweight.
All metals are sterling vermeil and the Connemara marble is genuine.
The retail value of these earrings in a good Museum or historical jewelry catalog would be about $55. Perfect for Renaissance or Celtic Faires, it is also a distinctly Irish Medieval pair of earrings for everyday wear. Wear it with a simple long dress and feel like one of the most legendary heroines of European romance!
