I learned my jewelry skills as an apprentice to a master artisan who specialized in antique Victorian jewelry. I still remember the classic combination of turquoise, lapis and coral in the jewelry of that lovely period.

I've crafted these new earrings in that classic Victorian combination, but in a modern dangle style with cascades of gemstones. These graceful earrings feature teardrop briolettes of very fine quality Chinese turquoise (almost certainly stabilized) in 10mm. briolettes. These are not the usual blue-green found in most Chinese turquoise, but a bright robin's-egg blue with dark brown matrix lines.

They are accented with a lavish cascade of: smooth 5mm. barrel-shaped drops of turquoise; 4mm. lapis rounds; 6mm. smooth oval lapis beads; 5mm. smooth Chinese bamboo coral rondelles (these are probably dyed). The vermeil jewelry pins end in balls of finely granulated beads.

They are worked on 14kt. gold-fill wire or 24kt. vermeil jewelry pins, and hang from secure 14kt. gold-filled European leverback earwires. They measure 2.25" not including the wires. Given their impressive appearance, they are quite lightweight on the ear.
