These are crafted to match my Fireheart Fire Agate Carnelian Garnet and Amber Collar, also on Ruby Lane.
The earrings are adapted from jewelry worn during those times, with sterling 24kt. vermeil filigree chandeliers in the jewel tones of stained glass. Lacy filigree jewelry was very popular during the High Middle Ages, as knights returning from the East brought delicate Eastern filigree jewelry home for their ladies. The chandelier pendant is set with a cabochon (smooth) inlay of deep red carnelian.
The earrings feature slender 9mm. beads of genuine Baltic amber, and 4mm. beads of faceted carnelian. All are worked on 14kt. gold-fill jewelry pins with vermeil accent beads.
They hang from accented 24kt. sterling French wires and include rubber stoppers for security. They measure 1 & 7/8" long not including the wires, and are very light on the ear.
I will not be repeating these earrings in this exact form. Medieval knights often wore this motto for their chosen ladies: "Vous et neul autre" (you and no other). Only you will wear these, my Lady--you and no other.
All metals are 24kt. sterling vermeil (gold overlay over sterling silver), and all gemstones are genuine. During the Middle Ages, gold was so expensive that it was reserved for royalty and the Church, and most Medieval noblewomen and wealthy ladies wore sterling vermeil. Vermeil was known as 'silver-gilt' to Medieval jewelers. Using it in my Medieval reproductions makes them even more authentic.
