This exquisite set of solid bronze brackets (circa 1850-1880) must have come from a very prosperous home and were probably cast specifically for that home. They would have been used as curtain rod hangers. One has a number 3 stamped on the back and the other has what looks like a 1. These measure 10.75in x 7.50in., with the back plate measuring 2.50in. wide. They weigh about 5.2lbs. each. Other than being used to hang very heavy draperies-they'd make stunning shelf brackets or bookends. What great components!
