SOLD 1924 Signed Gouache Pastel Painting

Gouache is a method of painting with opaque colors ground in water and thickened with gum and honey. This small but outstanding example is by a German artist, T. Weinheber and is signed and dated 1924. I`ve had this in my home for years and have never failed to notice it as the colors are so rich and the subject so captivating. The evening just before total darkness with the deep blues and the last light playing off the water is mood stimulating, both serene and mysterious. It was very hard to capture the true colors in this as they almost glow and taking close ups doesn`t show the smoothness of the picture as a whole. Looks much better in person. I`ve always liked art that stimulates my senses and this one always has. The frame size is 7 1/4" X 9 1/2" and the picture itself is 3 5/8" X 2 7/8". I`m selling it for $100.00 less than I paid for it years ago and hope the buyer appreciates it as much as I have. Thanks for looking!
