This small china head doll is 7 1/4" in height. Her clothes have been sewn on so we opted not to undress her for fear of damaging the antique clothing. The china shoulder head is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There are a few paint rubs to the hair. She has a vintage cloth body and limbs which are newer than the shoulder head. The antique clothing is hand done and very well made. Her dress is a silk and satin lace top and skirt with ruffles. There is a small tear to the lace on the back of her collar. Her underclothes consist of pantaloons and a slip with button closures and wonderful hand tatting. She has a long camisole top as well. There is minor soiling to the front of the slip and a tiny hole as well as some soiling to the pantaloons around the waist line. The workmanship on the clothing is so well done we dare say the clothing is worth more than the doll but the fit is absolutely perfect for her. The back of the shoulder plate has an incised number "7". She was probably made by the A. W. Fr. Kister porcelain factory. This traditional flat top hair style was popular on the china heads made in the 1850 to 1860 era. A wonderful doll to display in a Victorian dollhouse!
