This hardbound children's book measures 8" x 6 1/2" with 33 pages. The pages are not numbered. It is in good condition with no missing or torn pages and a tight binding. The cover boards are wonderfully illustrated with great front-piece and back-piece illustrations. The cover boards are slightly bent and bumped at the corners with some scuffing and wear. The book is copyrighted 1949, edition of 1951. The story is written by Frank Lewis and Alfred J. Corchia and illustrated by Dorothy Grider. Dorothy Grider's watercolor style of illustrations throughout this book are very nice. This volume is part of the Rand McNally Book-Elf Book Series. The title page also has printed "This is the story of Kerry, a real dog, who became the mascot of Hook and Ladder Company Number 29 of the New York City Fire Department. After nine years of faithful service Kerry answered his last call. His death resulted from injuries sustained in the line of duty. Kerry now rests in the Hartsdale Canine and Animal Cemetery, Westchester County, New York." Great story!
