Millstein Army Bomber Airplane Clear Glass Candy Container

This clear glass Army Bomber airplane candy container measures 4 1/8" long with a 4 1/4" wing spread and 1 1/8" in height. The container is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It does have some edge roughness, probably when removed from the mold. There is a partial paper decal on the nose which once had an illustration of a propeller on it. The bottom as the original waxed cardboard closure which reads "United States Army Bomber // Filled with delicious candy pellets // Contents: cane sugar, certified colors // and artificial flavors wt. 1/4 oz. // Manufactured and Distributed by // J. H. Millstein Co. // Patented Jeanette, Pa.". The bomber is an all glass body, wings, wheels and bombs. It is stippled on the top and under the wings. A couple circle-outlined five pointed stars are embossed on the wings with "15 - P - 7" on one wing and "Army Bomber" on the other. The patent for this design was applied for in September of 1944.
