SALE Antique Capodimonte Porcelain Hand-Painted Inkwell

Very nice antique Capodimonte porcelain hand-painted inkwell in very good condition. Raised figures of women and children in a garden and Polynesian type setting. The top has two quill holes and is decorated with flowers and leaves. The loose lid has a gold and yellow finial. Measurements are approximately 3" wide x 4 1/4" long x 3 1/4" tall. Bottom is marked with "1535/177 Italy". There is a chip to the outer bottom of the well insert and a chip to the inside edge of the bottom of the base of the inkwell. Both chips can be seen in the photos but are not visible when the piece is displayed. In addition to the two chips there is some loss of the gold gilding accents to the white beaded border and a few areas of light crazing on the top of the inkwell. Although this is not marked "Capodimonte" a similar example can be found in the book The Collector's World of Inkwells by Jean and Franklin Hunting on page 142.
