This is a nice old glass locomotive candy container with the original candy intact. It is all glass, clear, blown bottle with opening at the front end with a cork closure. The approx. measurements are 3 3/4" long, 1 5/8" high and cab top is 1 1/8" wide. The container is marked on the left side under the stack "E3s - 7/8 oz." and "1028" under the cab. On the right side it is marked "1028" under the cab and on the cylinder "PATENTED". In the circular hollow on the cab end a "4" is impressed. The wheels, cab top, windows, and top of the domes are stippled. This candy container was manufactured for the Turney H Stough Company of Jeannette, PA. There were several glass houses which produced the glass containers for them. Turney himself designed and drew up the specifications for the molds. The Turney H Stough Company was active from 1939 -1964. The condition is very good with no chips, cracks or repairs.
