This is an excellent piece of fine porcelain made in Tillowitz by Reinhold Schlegelmilch Porzellanfabriken. This is a mustard jar with lid and even has the original wooden spoon. The mustard jar measures approximately 3 1/4" in height with the lid in place and 3 1/4" in width including the handle. This piece is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The patterns used by the factory were almost endless, roses the most frequently used. Reinhold produced an enormous amount of china and shipped it to New York. Many of Reinhold's trademarked blanks were advertised in wholesale catalogs and sold by suppliers to handpainting classes and several firms. The makers mark on the bottom in blue was in use at the factory from 1869 on. Reinhold Schlegelmilch, Inc. was dissolved on December 15, 1945. The mustard jar is made of such fine porcelain, if you hold it up to the light you can see the factory mark on the bottom from the inside. It has wonderful handpainted roses on the outside. The frame is painted in yellow and black. A great piece for the German porcelain collector!
