Wendell Sterling Silver Tea Spout Strainer

$130 USD Offers ConsideredWendell Sterling Silver Tea Spout Strainer

Silver:Antique
This type of tea strainer was intended to hang under the teapot spout to catch the leaves. They probably got little if any use. They weren't very practical since they would allow drips of tea to fall on the tablecloth. The mark on the side, just below the outside rim appears to be the mark of Wendell Manufacturing Company, below that "STERLING" and with a catalog number of "820". They made sterling wares from 1850 to about 1900 in Chicago. A retail or wholesale outlet was listed in New York for ...
Sterling Silver Handled Stiletto Needlework Tool, c. 1890 - 1910

$195 USD Offers ConsideredSterling Silver Handled Stiletto Needlework Tool, c. 1890 - 1910

With a stiletto, a hole could be made in the fabric without the risk of tearing the material. Approx. 6" in length, it has a steel ...
Sterling Silver Brandy Wine Liquor Bottle label Decanter Tag, c. 1816-1825

$195 USD Offers ConsideredSterling Silver Brandy Wine Liquor Bottle label Decanter Tag, c. 1816-1825

Silver:Antique
The pierced "Brandy" name on this rectangular type of label with a gadrooned edge and shell motif make this piece more flamboyant than the usual labels of this era. It has the mark of George Knight and a London assay mark of sterling silver. The dating hallmarks are difficult to make out, but George Knight was only known to make labels from 1816-1825. The leopards head, partial lion passant and the sovereign's head can be seen. This is a small label with approx. measurements of 1 1/2" in length ...
