Each earring hangs from a hammered Hill Tribe Silver oval. This Thai silver is made by the Karen Hill Tribe in northern Thailand using traditional tribal methods passed down from generation to generation. The silver content is often 95-99%, which is higher than that of sterling silver at 92.5%

The earrings feature two sardonyx nuggets that measure approximately 12 X 16mm. Onyx is a form of banded agate, with sardonyx taking its name from the Greek "sard" meaning reddish-brown, referring to the bands.

The angles and bands of the stones make a striking combination. Roman soldiers wore sardonyx talismans engraved with warrior heroes and gods, believing it would make them brave and daring. Sardonyx is said to sharpen wits and eliminate negative thinking.

Each earring is accented with two sterling silver daisy spacers and a jet daisy. Jet is an organic material that has been used in jewelry and as talismans for centuries.

The earrings hang 40mm (1-1/2 inches) from my handcrafted sterling silver earwires. These can be substituted for traditional wires or leverbacks at no additional charge.
