Vintage Navajo Bolo Tie. Turquoise,Silver,Brass Nice
Hello there. This is a vintage bolo tie, I acquired from a pawn shop in Winslow, Ariz. which borders the Navajo Nations. It is first of all, fairly old, ca. late 60's or early 70's. It is made of Sterling Silver (tested), Brass, and two Turquoise cabs. The Turquoise could be natural or stabilized, there is noway to tell. The entire tie weighs in around 40 grams, and is about 2-1/4'' tall by about 1-3/4'' wide. The Outer band which is stamped is polished brass, while including the rope twist silver band is silver from there in. The floral pattern around the nuggets as well as the saw tooth bezels are brass, again polished. The cabs of Turquoise are about 3/8'' diameter. The strings appear to be leather , brown and tan braided together, with silver bell and long stem tips. It is hallmarked, but for the life of me , cannot figure out the name, meaning or other. Will leave that up to you. Interesting though. Thanks for your interest.
