A lovely antique rosewood jewel box, probably French due to the elaborate engraved brass cartouche and strapping with button tacks. This is a form usually found in Black Forest boxes with the swing-out compartments and locking panel. It is in very good condition only lacking some of the original brass on the top and the moire fabric in the bottom of the interior right compartment. The serpentine shape, canted corners strapped in brass & 4 turned feet makes this a truly elegant box.
