~~ Designs created using Tibetan, Trade, Vintage and Semi-Precious Beads ~~
This necklace was created using wirelace ribbon. It is tubular and the Carnelian barrel beads are slid through and knotted on each side. They have a sheer overlay of mesh lace. Different and unusual.
The center drop is a beautiful Turkoman bead. It is silver oxidized with brass and Carnelian chips set in the bead.
Turkomans are from what is known as Turkmenistan (Central Asia), the land of the Parthian Empire. Turkmens are recognized for their rugs, carpets, silk needlework and intricately carved silver and goldwash beads and jewelry.
Some of these beads have traveled many continents and had numerous owners. Small chips, corrosion, and pitting are a normal part of their patina attesting to their age and extensive use. It is interesting to imagine how they have survived a hundred or more years of wear and travel. Just imagine who wore them in the past and the mystery associated with them.
The Turkoman bead is 1.25". The total drop is 1.75". The necklace length is 18".
I am always happy to combine shipping and insurance on multiple items!
