The first Midwest Old Settlers and Threshers' Reunion was held in 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Collectors brought their restored or still unrestored threshing machines to the fair grounds to compare and discuss the relics of bygone days. Little by little, the reunion grew to the show it is today.

While the men were discussing their threshing machines and other farm relics, the women were fixing Old Thresher dinners...some of the best cooking you will ever find. You see, if a farmer needed a threshing crew, men would volunteer first to the farmer whose wife could serve the best dinner. The spreads were incredible!

This cookbook is a compilation of recipes contributed by association members and is a good example of home cooking in the area and throughout the U.S. It consists of 170 pages of recipes and witticisms. The cover is a faux leather look and the pages are ivory. Clean condition.

I have other Old Threshers' cookbooks listed on Ruby Lane, as I just came across a wonderful collection. All the cookbooks are in very nice condition and clean. In fact, they were from a collector and do not appear to have been used much, if at all. I met her and she is a lovely person.
