I don't know why I'm drawn to these banana boats, but I am. I guess it's the grand presence of the piece, set off by the distinctive hobs and the piecrust trim.

I have the high banana boat and use it to display fruit, but also use it for special occasions as a centerpiece. For instance, at Christmas time, I fill it with greens, holly sprigs and a pretty ribbon or beads. Against the white background, the greenery and red berries really stand out. With this low banana bowl, you can "spill out" your greenery or holly, ribbon or beads onto your table to give the centerpiece a little flair.

During Easter, I often fill it with spring flowers, such as hyacinth, tulips and lilacs. With this lower banana bowl/boat, you can incorporate a large bunny toward one end or spill eggs over the side and onto the table. It's amazing how many centerpieces you can build using these bowls.

This piece measures 12" long x 5" tall and is edged with a crimped piecrust rim. There are 10 rows of hobs on the underside. This piece is free of damage and is the usual Fenton quality workmanship.
