Due to the economy, the 10% sale has been extended. Not much, but it will help with shipping.
"The Collector's Encyclopedia of Hull Pottery" by Brenda Roberts shows this batter bowl on page 64 and says it is unmarked, as is this piece. There is still some black crayon marking on the base and I think it is probably the original price. We had a local pottery shop that did their pricing with black crayon for years. When they switched to paper stickers, they simply placed the paper sticker over the crayon markings, rather than remove it...made for some interesting negotiating.
This little beauty measures 7 7/8" wide x about 7" tall and is in beautiful condition. I have tried to provide enough photos for you to see the beautiful shape she is in. The only defect I can find is a tiny pinhole in the glaze on the base of her skirt, but that was during the decorating process and not considered a true defect.
I have inspected other Little Red Riding Hood pieces, but this is the nicest face I have seen. As you can see from the photos, the painting is strong and nicely accomplished. The floral decals are also in good shape.
There are no chips, cracks or crazing. She has been owned by one person and is ready to move on to her next home.
