I was fortunate to obtain a group of printer's blocks from a former printing company in Germany. They printed catalogs for a company which sold party hats, noisemakers, garlands, lanterns, etc. I believe this company was in business around WWII. Germany is famous for their harvest festivals and other celebrations. These blocks document the fun and excitement they enjoyed during their celebrations. This block is for a stovepipe party hat with band for under the chin. It measures 11/16" x 3/4" ...

I was fortunate in obtaining a group of old German printer's blocks which came from a printing house that was in operation around WWII. Part of what they printed were catalogs for party hats, noisemakers, garlands, lanterns, etc. Of course, Germans are famous for their harvest festivals and many of these are apparently for those activities since they have leaves, grapes, etc. This block is for a hat with lilies and is edged with a lacy trim.
