This is a beauty! It is a Moss Rose oval platter by Johann Haviland and is in great condition. It measures 12 3/4" x 9 1/2" across. There is a support ring on the base, which is a plus for these large pieces. It is free of chips, cracks or crazing. The gold is great. This platter came from an estate and the lady used it only for display. This massive platter was made by Johann Haviland in their Moss Rose pattern. It is the 14 3/4" x 11" platter and is in wonderful condition. It has the oval support ring at the base, which is good. This piece is free of chips, cracks or crazing. In fact, it does not appear to have been used for much other than display. That is what I was told by the heirs of the estate, anyway. It is wonderful. This lovely dinner plate is in the Moss Rose pattern by Johann Haviland. It measures 10" and is free of damage. The gold is great, as are the colors. Homer Laughlin introduced their Eggshell Georgian dinnerware in 1940, just in time for the WWII brides to choose their dinnerware patterns. This Rambler Rose pattern was one of the early designs and was very popular with the young women of the day. I believe Rambler Rose was sold through Montgomery Wards, for one. Homer Laughlin is known for its prolific manufacture of quality dinnerware sets. In the 1940s, they released their new Eggshell Georgian line which included Rambler Rose. It was an enticement for the WWII brides to choose as their dinnerware pattern...rather shabby chic, but elegant in its simplicity.
