This is a wonderful vintage circa 1930's pre-Eagle assay mark Mexico sterling silver Art Deco brooch set with a carved simulated obsidian mask in a filigree scroll frame. This fabulous brooch is marked on the back "Sterling Mexico" with a partially illegible maker's mark that looks to read "Patin". It features a large mask of black glass that simulates obsidian or onyx, bezel set in a framework of sterling silver that consists of lacy scrollwork accented with applied beading. Measurements are 3 inches long by 2 inches wide at the wides point. It fastens with a safety catch on the back. Excellent condition.
