"Birthday Wishes" - Antique Embossed Unused POSTCARD ~ Flowers & Tennyson Verse

"Hearts that Change not. Love that cannot cease, and Peace be Yours", is the quoted verse from the poet, Alfred, Lord Tennyson printed in a red, blue and gilt decorated, Gothic script.

This attractive, vintage post card features a vignette of an open book displaying the sweet, sentimental verse. Wax seals of a four leaf clover and golden horseshoe (symbols of good luck) hang from the book. An embossed floral motif of white and purple-red hydrangea-type flowers on a soft blue background with a gilt border complete this very pretty card.

This Edwardian-era postally-unused, divided back "Printed in Germany" postcard is numbered 2203. It wasn't mailed but has an inscription in pencil on the reverse. "To Della From Earl & Patrick To wish you a happy birth-day & many of them" is written in a juvenile hand.

This piece of birthday-related ephemera / memorabilia is in excellent condition with little of the attendant signs of age and wear. It is eminently suitable for framing or for inclusion in an album.
