Please Peruse Our Profferings Of Primarily Paper Pieces Of The Past - Vintage Ads, Postcards, Prints, Cards, Sheet Music, etc
This British, black & white, vintage candy ad features a picture of a sexy, young woman in a short, low-cut, slinky party dress with ballet slippers. The illustration depicts the party girl atop a large tin of "Everybody's Favourites!" - Mackintosh's Toffee-de-Luxe, "Carnival". She's holding a box of "De Luxe Favourites", another product of John Mackintosh & Sons, Ltd., Toffee Town, Halifax in Yorkshire, England. There is also an illustrated, decorative holly border.
The retail prices of the "large variety of Fancy Tins, Boxes, and Caskets" are included in the "old money", United Kingdom currency of shillings and pence.
Or if one prefers, the reverse features a regular, non-Christmas ad for the Lotus Radio Ltd., Liverpool. The wireless sets are presented in Art Deco graphics with the original selling prices.
Many vintage ads can act as "time capsules", reflecting the styles and sensibilities of a particular era. Christmas ads, perhaps due to the traditional, "family" nature of the holiday, often evoke a stronger sense of nostalgia. They can stir childhood memories of simpler, more sentimental times.
This dated, 1930s advert measures 11 1/4" x 8 1/2" (approx.). This piece of English advertising memorabilia / ephemera has a slight sepia tone adding to its vintage appeal. This Thirties print ad is in very good condition and is eminently suitable for framing - perhaps as a decorative holiday accent for your home.
Canada/USA Postage & Packing is $3.50 (Elsewhere to be determined). Multiple items purchased from SHARP OBJECTS may be combined for shipping purposes.
