Please Peruse Our Profferings Of Primarily Paper Pieces Of The Past - Vintage Ads, Postcards, Prints, Cards, Sheet Music, etc
This British, black & white, vintage tobacco ad features a picture with an old coaching inn motif and the slogan, "Christmas - the Time for Good Things". The illustration depicts a Georgian Royal Mail stage coach having a rest stop at a half-timbered hostelry. Several passengers are being served refreshments by a hotel Tap Room barmaid while other travellers disembark and collect their baggage.
The Player's products are on display in the foreground; Navy Cut Cigarettes "In Decorated Xmas Packing" (with the same pictorial as this ad on the box) and a tin of pipe tobacco. The retail prices are included in the "old money", United Kingdom currency of shillings and pence.
Or if one prefers, the reverse features two half-page ads: one for Rolls-Royce ("The Best Car in the World") and the other for Quillettes - The Modern Bed Coverings.
Many vintage ads can act as "time capsules", reflecting the styles and sensibilities of a particular era. Christmas ads, perhaps due to the traditional, "family" nature of the holiday, often evoke a stronger sense of nostalgia. They can stir childhood memories of simpler, more sentimental times.
This dated, 1930s advert measures 11 1/4" x 8 1/2" (approx.). This piece of English advertising memorabilia / ephemera has a slight sepia tone adding to its vintage appeal. This Thirties print ad is in very good condition and is eminently suitable for framing - perhaps as a decorative holiday accent for your home.
Canada/USA Postage & Packing is $3.50 (Elsewhere to be determined). Multiple items purchased from SHARP OBJECTS may be combined for shipping purposes.
