1932 CHRISTMAS Ad - Mansion Polish ~ "The final touch of brightness - for Xmas Festivities"

This is a genuine original magazine advertisement from the November 7, 1932 issue of Punch's Almanack for 1933.

This British, black & white, vintage household products ad features a picture of a maid in an apron polishing the floor of a grand house. The impressive staircase is festooned with holiday greenery and there is a sign over the beamed entrance to the living room wishing, "A Bright And Happy Xmas To All". The family is visible in the background decorating the Christmas tree while the smiling servant goes about her cleaning duties. An illustration of domestic service with a seasonal motif.

A tin of Chiswick Products Ltd.'s Mansion Antiseptic Polish is on display at the foot of the advertisement. The retail prices are included in the "old money", United Kingdom currency of shillings and pence.

Many vintage ads can act as "time capsules", reflecting the styles and sensibilities of a particular era. Christmas ads, perhaps due to the traditional, "family" nature of the holiday, often evoke a stronger sense of nostalgia. They can stir childhood memories of simpler, more sentimental times.
