"Grethel and The Witch" ~ Vintage Malcolm Patterson FAIRY TALE Print

This vintage print is from a drawing by Scottish artist, Malcolm Patterson. His career as an illustrator included contributions to such leading periodicals as Punch and The Strand Magazine. He was stationed as a war artist in Malta during World War I before returning to St Andrews to teach, etch, and paint.

This artist-signed picture illustrates a scene from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. It depicts a brightly-costumed Gretel encountering the old crone of a witch working at a loom.

This colour plate is from a 1930s compendium of material published in the first decades of the 20th Century. It is printed on glossy paper and is blank on the reverse.

The image area of this vintage print measures 8" x 5" (approx.). It is in excellent condition with a modicum of age rippling and is eminently suitable for framing. It would be perfect in a nursery or child's room!
