Please Peruse Our Profferings Of Primarily Paper Pieces Of The Past - Vintage Ads, Postcards, Prints, Cards, Sheet Music, etc
The dated (copyright 1948), 1940s Coke ad features an artist-signed illustration by the noted commercial artist, Arthur Radebaugh (1906-1974). The eccentric Radebaugh was well-known for his futuristic, conceptual style as well as for his masterly airbrush technique.
This impressive rendering depicts an aerial view of a busy shipping port with a rooftop steam whistle blowing in the lower right foreground. Looming over the scene amidst the clouds is an iconic Coca-Cola vending machine standing as a monolith or, perhaps, as a totem of consumerism. It is captioned, "Inviting workers everywhere to the pause that refreshes with ice-cold Coca-Cola 5¢". In the manner of a propaganda poster - Long Live the Proletariat!
Or if one prefers, the reverse depicts two couples on holiday aboard the S.S. Lurline - "the loveliest ship afloat". This colourful vintage travel ad for the Matson Lines cruises to Hawaii and other islands in the Pacific is a collectable piece of ocean liner memorabilia or ephemera.
The vintage ad measures 10" x 6 3/4" (approx.). This back cover advertisement is printed on glossy card stock with the attendant signs of use. This Forties print ad is in very good condition with a small strip of tape in the lower right hand corner (which the buyer can choose to remove). However, it remains eminently suitable for framing.
Canada/USA Postage & Packing is $3.50 (Elsewhere to be determined). Multiple items purchased from SHARP OBJECTS may be combined for shipping purposes.
