This is a genuine original beer bottle label for a 12 oz. bottle of Kamm's Ale. The colour litho label features two knights on white chargers with a couple of castles in the background and a giant beer barrel at the centre of the picture. This particular brand of ale was brewed and bottled by the Kamm & Schellinger Co. of Mishawaka, Ind. from 1933 until the brewery's closure following a fire in 1951. The company's origins date to the 1870s taking over from earlier Mishawaka brewers established two decades before.

The old brewery was built on an island in the St. Joseph River in Mishawaka (near South Bend). The heritage buildings have since been redeveloped and are now the 100 Center Complex - "a family-oriented shopping, dining and entertainment center".

This full-colour label measures 4 1/8" x 3" (approx.) and dates from the mid-Thirties as it has a U-Permit number (709). With the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, the U.S. government issued licences for the production of alcoholic beverages. Displaying the numbers was required until September, 1935 but some product still bore them into the following year. This old, Depression-era label is in excellent, unused condition and is eminently suitable for framing. The colours are strong and vibrant with great period graphics.

Vintage labels are great additions to advertising and ephemera collections. This one should really interest collectors of Indiana brewing memorabilia. They also make ideal "wall art" when framed for display for a pub, bar or retro lounge look.

Worldwide Postage & Packing is $2.50. Multiple items purchased from SHARP OBJECTS may be combined for shipping purposes.
