THREE Vintage BEER Labels - Cook's Bock Beer ~ Evansville, Indiana Brewery ~ c.1950s

These are three (3) genuine original beer bottle labels for 12 oz. bottles of Cook's Bock Beer. These labels, however, have been ink stamped, "Contents 15 1/2 Gal." so these bottle labels were intended for re-use on barrels or kegs, which is of particular interest.

The colour label features an illustration of a paddle-wheeler steamboat. As well as the Mississippi riverboat image is one of the ram's head associated with bock beer (Bock is a German-style, heavy, dark lager consumed seasonally in late winter and spring. It is traditionally associated with the religious fasting period of Lent due to its higher nutritional content. Hmmm...Prost!).

This particular brand of beer was brewed and bottled by the F.W. Cook Co., Inc. of Evansville, Ind. from 1933 until the brewery's closure in 1955. The company's origins date to 1853 with the establishment of City Brewery by Frederick Cook and Louis Rice.

This full-colour label measures 4 7/16" x 3 5/16" (approx.). These old labels are in excellent, unused condition and is eminently suitable for framing. The colours are strong and vibrant with great period graphics.

Vintage labels are great additions to advertising and ephemera collections. This one should really interest collectors of Indiana brewing memorabilia. They also make ideal "wall art" when framed for display for a pub, bar or retro lounge look.
