SOLD Superb Old French Art Pottery A. Biagioni Figural Breton Woman Bank
I have a lovely treat for you here! This is a French Art Pottery figural bank in the form of a seated Breton woman. I also have her mate in the form of a seated Breton man currently for sale, so if you're interested in a pair, you might want to see my item #RL070802. This bank is glazed in a warm chocolate brown with white & fleshtone accents. In France, this sort of bank is referred to as a “Tirelire á Casser”, meaning “A Bank To Break”, as that is the only way to withdraw any money! It measures 8 ½” tall. This was made by A. Biagioni of Tours, France, and is so signed on the base. I have been unable to narrow down the date of production, except to know it was before 1960, as that is the year it was acquired. This is in excellent condition with its only issue being an old, and well done, repair to the woman’s neck and a small nick on the underside of her left arm. Shipping weight: 3 lb. 6 oz. (Location: B1)
