What a treasure I have for you this time! I adore this glaze treatment and am always thrilled when I find a piece with it. I have a matching vase that is identical, but larger than this one, so if you are interested in a pair, or something larger, see my item number RL080829 for this vase's cousin. This beautiful ombre-glazed vase shades from pale yellow at the neck through warm honey and caramel, till you reach the base glazed in warm chocolate brown. A floral festoon at the top accents the piece in blue, pink and yellow; colors that are repeated in a smaller floral medallion at the base. The handles are glazed in olive while the interior is glazed in aqua. It is simply stunning! It measures 8” tall and 3 ¾” in diameter at its widest point, excluding the handles. This is marked on the base with the impressed numbers 53, 44, and 03 (I actually think the 53 & 44, should be thought of as one model number 5344), as well as the handwritten number 90 in black. It dates to between 1880 and 1900. This style of vase was the product of any number of small faienceries in the North of France, along the Belgian border. Few were marked, but the reference book Les Barbotines, by Pierre Faveton shows this type treatment on page 32 and identifies them as a product of the North. I have included a photo of the page below for those who don’t have access to the book. This vase is in exquisite condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. It is, in short, perfectly mint! Shipping weight: 2 lb. 13 oz. (Location: H3)
