Superb Circa 1920 French Majolica St. Clement Orange Fruit Plate

Offered here is one of St. Clement’s very desirable fruit motif majolica plates, this particular example is their orange plate. These were produced at the renowned St. Clement faiencerie near Luneville, France. This pattern of plate was very popular during the twenties and this one dates to that period. It is a lovely example with the deep crisp molding and gorgeous soft coloration that St. Clement is known for. This measures 8 ½” in diameter. It is in superb condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There are a couple of tiny old fleabites on the rim, but they do not detract. (It looks as though it may have spent some time in a plate hanger.) It is clearly marked on the back with a black underglaze stamp “St. Clement, Made in France.” There is gentle crazing appropriate to its age with no discoloration associated with it, so it does not at all detract.
