What a treat this one is, and made by a real master! This gorgeous majolica jardinière is glazed in birthday cake colors of lavender, brilliant purple, pink, and pale green with an interior glaze of deepest green. The effect is stunning! This was made by Bernard Bloch at Eichwald, after World War One when the Austrian state of Bohemia was incorporated into the new country of Czechoslovakia. It dates to between 1917 and 1925. This jardinière (in a different color scheme) is pictured on page 92 of D. Michael Murray’s European Majolica. I have included a photo of the page below for those who don’t have access to the book. This bears Bernard Bloch’s Eichwald raised cartouche and the numbers 7920/6. In addition, there is a black stamped “Made in Czechoslovakia”. The jardinière measures 7 ¼” long, 4 ¼” tall, and 3 ¼” wide. It is in superb condition with no cracks, chips, hairlines, etc. There is a small glaze flake on the rim and gentle crazing appropriate to its age, but it is not at all disfiguring. Shipping weight: 2 lb. 6 oz. (Location: OD)
