This is one of the most sought-after majolica pieces made by the renowned French potters, the Massier family. The Massier family of Vallauris, France, is world famous for their high-quality art pottery and majolica produced first by the father, Jacques (1806-1871), whose sons Delphin, Clement, and Jérôme followed in his footsteps. This is a figural wishing well spill vase with three charming birds and a bucket beside the well. It measures 9” tall, nearly 6” long, and about 5” wide; and dates to the turn-of-the-century. It bears the impressed mark JMASSIER, VALLAURIS on the base. It is in superb condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs, etc. There are a few insignificant fleabites (less than 1mm) on the beak and tail of 2 birds. Shipping weight: 4 lb. 2 oz.
