Gorgeous Old Pink & Blue Oyster Platter Server

This gorgeous majolica oyster platter is unlike any I’ve run across before. It would probably be more correct to call this a coquillage, as the shells depicted are scallop, not oyster. It is a 12 well handled platter glazed in shades of blue, green, and rose. It measures 16” long, 8” wide, and the handle stands 3 ½” tall. The base is finished in the traditional majolica green/brown mottled glaze. It has no mark at all, and I didn’t have a clue about it when I found it while on a buying trip to France. When I returned home I ran across a similar piece pictured in a slightly different color scheme in Jeffrey B. Snyder’s Marvelous Majolica, (page 147. I’ve included a photo of the page for those who don’t have access to the book.) I don't think this is an actual product of the renowned French faiencerie Longchamp, but was likely made by a local anonymous competitor to compete with the Longchamp. It is in very good condition with its only issues being 3 minor chips on the table rim where the platter is in contact with the table. These are visible only when the platter is turned upside-down.
