I am very happy to offer this charming antique French majolica footed bowl in the form of a bird’s nest on which is perched an adorable little bird. It was made circa 1900 by the renowned French artist, Jerome Massier. The Massier family of Vallauris, France, is world famous for their high-quality art pottery and majolica produced first by the father, Jacques (1806-1871), and then his sons Delphin, Clement, and Jérôme who followed in their father’s footsteps. The exterior of this lovely piece is glazed in mottled shades of brown, green, yellow, a bluish-gray, and cream with a realistically colored little bird (Maybe a finch of some sort?) perched at the side. The interior is glazed in aqua, and the bowl stands on three twig-form feet. It measures 4 ½” wide at its widest point and stands 3 ½” tall at its tallest. It is clearly signed on the base JMF (Jerome Massier et Fils) VALLAURIS, A.M. (Alpes Maritime). The condition is excellent with its only issue being a small chip on the underside of the bird’s tail and a virtually invisible tiny flake on the rim. See the photos for details. Shipping weight: 2 lb. 3 oz. (Location: FD)
