Antique Set of 12 French Majolica Vegetable Knife Rests in Original Box

What a treat I have for you here! This is a full set of 12 black and red French majolica knife rests in their original satin-lined box. Each knife rest has a figural vegetable applied at one side. There are 2 tomatoes, 2 radishes, 2 carrots, 2 cabbages, 2 turnips (I think!), 1 eggplant, and 1 squash (again, I think!). These are not marked in any way, but I would guess them to be from around Vallauris in France, as that is where I purchased them, and the “applied vegetables” (and other foodstuffs) are a common decorative feature on Vallauris pottery. They date to the 1910’s or 20’s. They are in exceptional condition with the only issues being 2 nicks to the corners of one black (the tomato) knife rest, and some very mild glaze rub to the edge of one of the red one. The box is in excellent condition showing only a little rubbing at the edges. Shipping weight: 3 lb. 12 oz. (Location: LC)
