I am very pleased to offer this most sought-after of Frie-Onnaing’s beautiful Art Nouveau pitchers, the model known as Vallauris. I see this pitcher only rarely, so it’s always a thrill to run into one! This pitcher features a flared trumpet-shaped flower glazed in shades of purple and golden yellow with a large stylized aqua leaf at its base, and all of this on a deep carmine background. The handle is glazed in a warm caramel brown and the interior is glazed in aqua. It dates to around 1890 and was made by the renowned French faiencerie, Frie-Onnaing, in the north of France, along the Belgian border. It is clearly marked on the base with the impressed number 828 and Onnaing’s impressed mark consisting of their blazon surmounted with a crown and flanked by the words FRIE and ONNAING. It also bears their earlier impressed double sunray mark. This is in good condition with its only issues being a rim chip with an associated hairline and some moderate discoloration to the crazing which is more apparent on the interior than the exterior. Please see the photos for details. Shipping weight: 3 lb. 8 oz. (Location: D5)
