Enchanting Antique Cupid & Love Vanity Brass What-Not-Box With Hand Painted Enamel Lid

$365 USDEnchanting Antique Cupid & Love Vanity Brass What-Not-Box With Hand Painted Enamel Lid

Antiques:Vanity Items:Brass Box:Enameled:Hand Painted Scene
This lovely brass box dates to the mid to late 1800’s. It is probably French. It is lined on the inside and the bottom with either heavy red silk or satin. Without removing the painting from the lid (not even sure you can), I believe the painting is hand painted and enameled over metal. There are a couple of distinct crackle lines within the painting that look like it could be cracked but it isn’t. The lines are below the surface of the enameling. I think the painting was painted from an ...

*Victorian Antique Metal Pair Slippers/Shoes Match Holder or Whatnot*

$130 USD*Victorian Antique Metal Pair Slippers/Shoes Match Holder or Whatnot*

Antiques:Fireplace Match Holder:Slippers
I believe these slippers were used to hang on the wall near a fireplace and would hold matches. Or, it may have been used near a vanity for matches or needful things. Whatever its use it is very decorative and a lovely piece of Victoriana. The toes on the slippers are decorated with what look like Chinese, or Egyptian symbols. Some of the symbols are storks or cranes, fans, fish, snakes, pussy willow, hearts, pagodas, and the three intertwined rings symbol (Oddfellows). The origin is possibly ...

$315 USD ReducedREDUCED Splendid Antique Band Box Bandbox Hat Box Hatbox Millinery

This hat or bandbox dates to circa 1850 to 1870’s. It is hand made and lined inside and out with antique wallpaper. On the top and around the sides is a heavy wire like mesh cord and tape. On the top is a lithograph scene of costumed 18th century ladies and gentlemen. It has issues. Some of the paper is torn and faded. Please see all photos and if you want to see more please ask. The top cord is detached in areas but I didn’t want to attempt to attach. I want to leave that to the new owner. ...

Must Have Victoriana Small Antique Hat Box Hatbox Millinery Box

$145 USDMust Have Victoriana Small Antique Hat Box Hatbox Millinery Box

Antiques:Hatbox:Bandbox:Millinery
Because of the size of this box I’d say that it dates to about the 1870’s, which would have accommodated the smaller hats of the period. The box/hat was probably hand carried by a shop messenger to the recipient. Unfortunately the recipients name is indistinguishable. “From: “Lewis Blake, Jobber and Retailer at/Millinery & Fancy Goods/No. 264 Main Street, Aukee, Wisconsin”. When you hold the box a certain way you can see a pencil written inscription of “Aunt Mary (last name hard to read) white ...

$175 USDExceptional Antique Czech 1888 Dance Card with Original Pencil and Hook

This lovely dance card dates to 1888. I was told by a young lady from Prague that the card is Czech and is from the town of Tabor about 90 miles south east of Prague. This inside opens to four (4) pages. Opening with the name of the dance dating to 1888. The inside has the names of the dances. There are names or initials on four of the dances written in pencil. The whole dance card is done in a bright red silk (I believe) and green velvet. Over the green velvet is a heavy paper rose scrap with ...
Charming Antique Victorian Shadowbox Colorful Wool Flowers Horseshoe

$425 USDCharming Antique Victorian Shadowbox Colorful Wool Flowers Horseshoe

Antiques:Shadowbox:Wool Flowers:Art
This is the first time I’d ever seen one of these shadowboxes up close and personal. I was delighted to find it. It is in VERY good condition considering its age. The inside has only one small piece of silver paper missing around the edge and there are two small spots (see photo). The outside has some dings and scratches in the wood frame. It must have taken a Victorian lady many days and hours to work on this lovely, vibrant, colorful piece of art. I believe these are called wool flowers. I ...
Awesome Sentimental Antique Victorian Shadowbox Hair Art Wreath 1875

$585 USDAwesome Sentimental Antique Victorian Shadowbox Hair Art Wreath 1875

Antiques:Shadowbox:Hair Art:Sentimental
This is not mourning art. It appears to be a sentimental piece made by a loving aunt. Her name was Rebecca Bates Bowles. Each delicate ‘hair’ flower was probably made from each of the children listed on the paper inside the wreath since there are several different hair colors used. It appears to have been done in 1875. White ribbons surrounds the paper. The frame measures 13.75 by 12 inches. We add new items several times a week, so please check back often or subscribe to shop updates. If you ...
Charming Antique Tortoise & Pettipoint Compact

$165 USDCharming Antique Tortoise & Pettipoint Compact

Antiques:Accessories:Vanity:Tortoise:Compact
OMG! This is the most beautiful and delicate compact. I do not know my needlework really well but I believe this is called Pettipoint. However, it is much more delicate with a tighter weave than the pettipoint I am familiar with now so quite possibly it has another name. The only downside is that the pettipoint is soiled and I don’t know if it can be cleaned. Still it is a muted floral pattern which gives it a rich patina. I don’t want to attempt cleaning it since I would hate to ruin it. The ...

Antiques:Primitives:Tools:Hand Forged:Sewing
Circa: Possibly late 1700’s to early 1800’s. Very early hand forged tools. One of a kind set. Superior workmanship. I was told these were used for sewing but I could not identify them in any of my reference books. They look like they may have been used for buttonholes since the ends are very sharp. Possibly they were used for woodwork. If anyone knows what these tools were used for please get in touch with me. I would appreciate it. Manufacturer/Marks: None. Excellent condition.
