Whether you call it a match safe or a Vesta case, this owl is a rare beauty. Hand crafted around 1890, this sterling silver match safe is clearly hallmarked with "925" on the bottom. The eyes are inset with two small stones.

The owl stands 1 3/4" high. Its head is hinged and opens to reveal your stash of matches. The head snaps tightly closed to protect matches from the elements. The striker is on the bottom, next to the hallmark.

Outside and in, this match safe is in pristine condition, with no visible scratches or dings. This is an exceptional piece to add to your collection!
