From the Victorian period, this gentleman's collar and cuff box remains in extremely good condition inside and out. "Collar and Cuffs" is embossed on a Celluloid Plaque on the top. Beyond the celluloid plaque, forest green lacquered paper covers the rest of the outside of the wooden box with only an occasional loss of the floral patterned paper primarily at the corners. The top hinges open to reveal a pleated cloth covering. Inside of the box is the typical cylinder used to provide a form for the collars and cuffs. Three stiffly, starched, formed collars by Arrow are in the box and remain in very good condition. Each collar is marked Cathedral B - 15, has a style number of 5604, and carries the Arrow name and logo with the names Cluett, Peabody & Co., Inc. The embossed hinges and clasps of the box appear to be original and in good working order with all hardware present. A small compartment opens from the bottom, which at one time surely held studs and cuff links, and is also covered with gray pleated fabric in excellent condition. Perfect for use as a man's keepsake box today or a wonderful gift for the man who appreciates period items or dress. The box measures 6 1/4" tall. The base is 7" square while the remainder of the box is approximately 5 1/2" square.
