This type of jewelry box from the 1950's is often referred to as having a "Leatherette" or "Vinyl" cover. A 1950's catalog describes the cover of these jewelry boxes, by Mele, as simulated leather over a wood frame. This vintage jewelry box is in very near Mint condition. The cover is a rich, dark green that is trimmed in gold. The interior has an amber velvet bottom and an amber satin back which are immaculate and without rips, tears, or stains. The exterior looks new with the exception of a very small dark spot on the exterior lid (appears to be glue from a sticker) and two very small indentations on the top that are noticeable only at an angle. Please see photos which show how insignificant those areas are. This jewelry box must have been kept put away over the years to have been kept in such wonderful shape. It measures: 10" x 7" x 3.5". The manufacturer's mark remains intact on the back.
