SOLD Homer Laughlin Poppy & Rose Oval Serving Bowl

Excellent Condition! One of the most popular Homer Laughlin dinnerware patterns, outside of Fiestaware, is this unnamed pattern that has become most widely known by collectors as "Poppy & Rose" although it is also referred to by some as "Olivia" and / or "Ivora". The pattern was predominant in the 1930's in the Kwaker shape. Some pieces were given as premiums or promotional items with Octagon Soap. The shape of the dishes, which bore the Poppy & Rose design initially, was the Kwaker shape. The Poppy & Rose design with it's bright orange poppy, yellow rose, and black leaves continued in manufacture for some years past the Kwaker shape and was placed on several of Laughlin's shapes. This Oval Serving Bowl is utilized through out many of Laughlin's shapes so it would be difficult to identify it by shape but it certainly carries the lovely Poppy Rose design. The Oval Bowl measures 9 1/2" x 7" and is in Excellent Condition. There are very few if any utensil marks and the finish remains smooth and glossy. The floral design remains bright and fully intact. There are no chips, nicks, cracks or crazing. This bowl carries the Homer Laughlin mark and a date from 1956.
